Mr. Hisham El-Khazindar is the **Co-Founder and Managing Director of Qalaa Holdings**, a leading investment company in Africa and the Middle East. 
Established in 2004, Qalaa Holdings (formerly known as Citadel Capital) is an African leader in energy and infrastructure. Qalaa’s subsidiaries include Egyptian Refining Company, Taqa Arabia and Dina Farms. 

Prior to co-founding Qalaa Holdings, Mr. El-Khazindar was Executive **Director of Investment Banking at EFG Hermes** where he advised on landmark M&A and IPO transactions in the region, and where he started his career in 1996. 

During 1999-2000, he was on secondment to Goldman Sachs in London. **About Sam Alemayehu:**

Sam Alemayehu is the co-founder of KivuBio Inc., Razzein Inc., Nexus Biotech Inc., and Dunia Holdings Inc. all created through C1 Ventures. 

He is recognized as the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leader and Technology Pioneer. 

Over the last 18 years, he has been a serial entrepreneur and investor, balancing both roles. Alemayehu founded his first venture-backed company, CornerMedia, in 2005 while still a student at Stanford University. After a successful exit, he returned to complete his degree at Stanford. 

Upon finishing his studies, Alemayehu started another venture-backed company and then joined Venrock Ventures, a top-tier venture firm investing in technology and biotech companies. Ayshka Najib (she/her) is a climate justice activist and organizer based in the UAE. Her work focuses on ensuring the leadership and meaningful participation of those at the frontlines of the crisis and this is reflected in her advocacy with Fridays For Future MAPA (Most Affected People and Areas).
**Ayshka is one of the UNICEF Youth Advocates to the UAE**, supporting the Gulf Area Office with her expertise on climate change. In such a role, she ensures the capacities of young people who are engaged in climate change are strengthened, enhancing coordination and facilitating their seat at the table. 

**She also works with the UNICEF MENA **regional office in facilitating the Technical Cohort on advancing young women and girls’ leadership on climate
change.

As Youth Lead for the Action Coalition on Feminist Action for Climate Justice (FACJ), she works with UN Women and the Generation Equality Campaign to push for recognizing the intersectionality of gender equality and climate justice in decision making spaces as well as at the grass roots level.

**About Gillian Caldwell:**

**Gillian Caldwell serves as the Chief Climate Officer and Deputy Assistant Administrator the US Agency for International Development (USAID).** In this role, she is the Biden administration’s political appointee responsible for guiding and leading the climate and energy work at USAID and serving as the AID liaison with other federal agencies, the US Congress, NGOs, foreign governments and international and regional organizations.

From 2019-2021, Gillian was consulting with a focus on strategic planning, organizational development and executive coaching. **From 2015-2019, she served as Global Witness**' London-based CEO. During her tenure at Global Witness, the team generated numerous systems-changing impacts, reshaped strategy to double down on the climate crisis, strengthened its governance, management team and communications capabilities, significantly increased its budget, financial reserves and staff size and opened a new office in Brussels to complement those already in place in London, Washington DC and Beijing.

From 2010-2015, Gillian was consulting full time based from the Washington DC area and Chiang Mai, Thailand. In her consulting practice, Gillian has served as a strategist helping non-profits, foundations, films universities and socially responsible corporations increase their impact.

In 2010, Gillian completed three years as Campaign Director/Executive Director for 1Sky (now merged with 350.org), which she helped build from inception. As a start up short term campaign, 1Sky grew within two years to become the largest collaborative climate and energy campaign in the United States, and combined the force of over 640 allied organizations, a team of organizers in 23 states nationwide at the height of the 2009 Congressional debate, more than 200,000 climate advocates and more than 4000 volunteer “Climate Precinct Captains” covering every state and Congressional District in the country.
