Scope of This Role

We seek a detail-oriented, highly analytical FP&A Manager to join our finance team. The FP&A Manager will be the finance business partner, playing an integral part in forecasting, planning, and reporting of all expenses related to Product and Data Science teams within Audience Measurement.  This individual must be a collaborative problem-solver who not only understands the numbers, but also the broader business context around them.  To be successful, the Manager must be able to communicate effectively across multiple teams, as well as Senior Leadership to provide critical information and escalate any roadblocks. The Audience Measurement FP&A team is a fast paced, high performing team that executes financial planning and analysis.

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be $100,000 - $200,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.

Responsibilities

  • Opex Management - Ensure product leaders operate their departments within a scalable cost structure, focusing on investment decisions and understanding trade-offs.
  • Capex Investments - Evaluate impact and affordability of product investments to support revenue growth.
  • New Business Reviews - Manage the financial evaluation of any new product and/or new business requiring incremental Opex and/or Capex.
  • Provide insightful analysis, reporting, and recommendations to senior leadership on financial implications of data partnerships.
  • Produce, maintain, and report on product profitability, including implementing and maintaining a standardized allocation methodology.
  • Play a key role in the financial planning cycle including monthly/quarterly forecasting, variance analyses against operating plan, trending analysis, and walks vs. prior year.
  • Support month end close process through the review of actual results and the creation requested journal entries, working closely with the business as well the accounting team.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to Finance and Senior management, highlighting performance opportunities and risks.
  • Partner with various groups including IT, Operations, Commercial, Accounting, HR and Finance to report out findings, trends and identify solutions for potential issues and process improvements.
  • Seek continuous improvement of the FP&A function through the identification of opportunities across people, processes, and technology.

Qualifications

  • A successful FP&A Manager will be detail-oriented, and have a strong analytical mind with the ability to identify and highlight areas of business risks and capitalize on opportunities in the company from a financial standpoint. 
  • Should help to drive synergy across all processes and ensure standardization and adaptability with the latest company priorities.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated work style, attention to detail, effective communicator.
  • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities and deliver results in an accurate and timely manner while adapting to changes in priorities.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and present data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and follow-up skills.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the FP&A function, including implementing best practices, streamlining processes and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Prior FP&A Experience (5+ Years).
  • Extensive experience in financial analysis, corporate finance.
  • Deep understanding of the product development process.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting Product Development Life Cycle, including financial planning, cost management and investment analysis throughout the development stage.
  • Significant experience with financial modeling, valuation techniques.
  • Sound understanding of the media ecosystem including some understanding of Nielsen’s products and services.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with proven experience leading complex projects.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, self-motivated work style and a good attention to detail and enjoy a dynamic environment with new challenges and changing work priorities.
  • Individual contributor and team player with great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
  • Experience manipulating large data sets and turning them into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite SAP Financial systems and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) experience a plus.
  • Prior experience with S4Hanna, Workforce Planning and SAC is a plus.
