Localized is seeking a seasoned Tech Lead / Manager to lead and inspire a team of engineers building modern, scalable applications with a full-stack TypeScript architecture. You'll take ownership across both backend and frontend teams — guiding technical execution, ensuring quality development, and aligning engineering output with business needs.

As a Tech Lead / Manager, you'll balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities. You’ll guide product development ideas, lead implementation efforts, and collaborate cross-functionally with product and design to deliver performant, intuitive user experiences. Our tech stack centers around Next.js on the frontend, Node.js and MySQL on the backend with a microservice-first approach—entirely written in TypeScript.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a small but committed team of engineers across backend and frontend domains.
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and performant full-stack applications.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to define roadmaps and translate business goals into technical plans.
• Build and maintain microservices and APIs (REST and GraphQL) with modern TypeScript practices.
• Review code, ensure quality standards, and champion best practices across testing, deployment, and CI/CD.
• Contribute hands-on to development efforts—writing clean, maintainable code using Node.js and Next.js.

• Own delivery and reliability of features deployed on AWS infrastructure.

  Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management role.
• Deep expertise in backend development using Node.js and frontend development with Next.js.
• Proven experience designing and building APIs and microservices using modern TypeScript practices.
• Strong background in relational data modeling (MySQL) and caching strategies (Redis/Memcached).
• Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, including promises, async/await, and immutability.
• Experience with unit/integration testing, CI/CD workflows, and cloud deployments (AWS preferred).
• Effective communicator and collaborator with a passion for mentoring and team development.

• Must be based in a time zone somewhere within GMT - 5 to GMT +3 (East Coast of North America to parts of Europe/Africa the Middle East but no farther than GMT +3).

  Nice to Have

  Prior experience leading teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Knowledge of MySQL
• Masterly knowledge of Typescript
• Experience working with Rest APIs and event driven server-to-server communication
• Familiarity with AWS ECS and dockerized architectures

• Familiarity with Figma design systems
