# Minister of State for Foreign Trade: H.E. Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi


**HE Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi **was appointed the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, following the new UAE Government structure in July 2020, and has been assigned a file to attract the best talents and competencies to serve the strategic direction of the UAE. HE also oversees the development of non-oil foreign trade sectors and the expansion of global partnerships, in addition to enhancing the investment climate in the country, in order to cement its position as a major business destination at the regional and global levels.

**He had held the position of Minister of Climate Change and Environment **previously, during which he supervised the implementation of the UAE's strategies locally, advancing environment and climate actions. He also **led the country’s efforts in limiting and adapting to the repercussions of climate change** at the global level, while also focussing on the preservation of the UAE’s biodiversity through the development and implementation of a set of effective policies and measures.

Prior to assuming his ministerial position, HE Al Zeyoudi served as the permanent representative of the UAE to the **International Renewable Energy Agency** (IRENA), and Director of the Department of Energy Affairs and Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

# Minister of Education H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi

Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi is the Minister of Education. Before his present position, he was Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs under the new UAE Government structure approved in July 2020.

He also served as the Minister of State for Higher Education during which he supervised the development of higher education and scientific research in the UAE. He also **formulated new policies for the sector as well as streamlined the work of higher education** institutions to ensure quality outputs that match the requirements of the labor market. In October 2017, pursuant to the ministerial amendment to the UAE Government, he took on the responsibility of equipping UAE nationals with skills of the future.

H.E. is also the former Chairman of the Federal Authority for Human Resources and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Space Agency. He represented the space sector at the **National Committee for Science, Technology and Innovation**. Other positions he previously held included CEO of Masdar Company; Executive Director of Strategy and Tourism Sector Development at Dubai Tourism; Vice President of the Mubadala Industry Unit; and Consultant for the management consulting firm McKinsey and Company.

# About Viktor Prokopenya  – Founder, Capital.com and Currency.com

Viktor Prokopenya is a Minsk-born, London-based, **global investor and entrepreneur in the fintech industry**. An influential voice on internet regulation Mr. Prokopenya actively participated in the development of the Belarusian IT industry regulation, ultimately helping form the country’s Decree on the Development of a Digital Economy. Mr. Prokopenya has been leading digital technology companies for over two decades and is a passionate advocate for fintech as a force for good, delivering financial democracy that transcends borders.

From 2001 to 2011, he **founded and led Viaden Media, one of the largest producers of iOS apps in Central and Eastern Europe**. In 2012, he started Exp(Capital), a data analysis fintech able to predict market fluctuations. That same year, Mr. Prokopenya founded VP Capital, investing in AI, augmented reality, computer vision, fintech, and blockchain. Some of his major investments include Capital.com, an **award-winning fintech start-up** focused on developing mobile applications for retail investors; Currency.com, the **world’s first regulated tokenized securities exchange**; and FaceMetrics, a start-up specializing in artificial intelligence apps for children’s education.

Mr. Prokopenya holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the SBS Swiss Business School, as well as master’s degrees in Finance, Internet Marketing, and Business Administration from Northeastern University, Full Sail University, and Minsk IPM Business School, respectively.

**Joe Baguley** is VMware’s Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for EMEA, joining VMware in July 2011. He helps develop and communicate VMware’s strategy and vision with customers and partners, using his wealth of experience to help organisations reduce costs and better support users and business needs. As part of VMware’s Office of the CTO and its representative in EMEA, Joe assists VMware’s customers in understanding how to use today’s advances in technology to deliver real business impact as well as working with them to inform VMware’s R&D processes.

Ronaldo Mouchawar is a Syrian-American entrepreneur and a pioneer of e-commerce in the MENA region. He co-founded Souq.com Group and served as its CEO. He grew the company into the largest e-commerce retailer in the Arab world. **Amazon acquired Souq.com for USD $580 million in 2017.** Mouchawar currently serves as the Vice President of Amazon MENA, spearheading the business across the region and guided by four principles: customer obsession, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. 
 
Souq.com was initially founded in 2005 in the UAE reaching a valuation of over $1 billion and becoming the Arab world's first unicorn. Mouchawar oversaw its expansion into Saudi Arabia and Egypt. # About Michael Mosier: 

Michael Mosier is General Counsel for Espresso Systems, which is developing configurable privacy for digital assets with decentralized private computation.  He served as Acting Director, Deputy Director, and the first Digital Innovation Officer of the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).  He also was Counselor (for Cybersecurity & Emerging Technology) to the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury.

Previously, Michael was Chief Technical Counsel at Chainalysis; an Associate Director of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control; a Deputy Chief at the Department of Justice’s Money Laundering Section; and Director for Transnational Organized Crime at the White House National Security Council. # About Nilmini Rubin

Nilmini Rubin spent more than two decades driving foreign policy and business improvements. Recently, Nilmini joined the international institutions policy team at Facebook. She is the Co-Founder of Fix the System to strengthen democracy in the USA. Previously, Nilmini led Tetra Tech’s global team of more than 300 diverse professionals implementing energy and internet projects. 

For 12 years, she served as a senior aide to Senate Lugar (R-IL) on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and to Representative Ed Royce (R-CA) on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She spearheaded the passage of legislation to provide electricity access in Africa, increase global internet access, reduce corruption through transparency, and reform U.S. foreign assistance. One of her pieces of legislation, to improve extractive industry transparency has been adopted by Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions. 

She also served at the White House National Security Council under President George W. Bush where she helped secure agreements on non-proliferation, international health and foreign aid. Nilmini was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the World Economic Forum Experts Network and the Academy of the Global Teacher Prize. Nilmini co-wrote an illustrated book entitled How Carrots Became Orange with her oldest daughter, Renuka and a coloring book entitled The United Shapes of America with her middle daughter, Araliya.

In his current capacity as the Strategic Engagements & Partnerships Leader, Microsoft, Hamad leads a team with a diverse set of programs & operations across multiple business and support functions including HR & Nationalisation, Business Management, Early in Career, Operations, Executive Communications, Internal Learning, and External Skilling. 

In 2020, Hamad took a stretch assignment of building Emiratisation strategy for Microsoft UAE and developed ‘Tomoh’ Program, which is aimed at accelerating nationals employability, market & economical impact through acquisition motions, internships, digital skilling programs, in addition to social development partnerships focused on startups and Emirati businesses. In 2021, Tomoh was recognized as a best practice in developing high caliber national and he was asked by the company leadership to scale the program across Middle East & Africa countries. 

In his previous role in Microsoft, Hamad was the Government Sector Lead in Microsoft UAE, responsible of enabling digital transformation for both local and federal government. He partnered with customers on their strategy, facilitated partnership between IT & Business, anticipated market changes, identified benchmarks and references, leveraged insights and analytics, and orchestrated virtual Microsoft and Partners teams, to position effective & innovative solutions that drives business impact.

**Eman Barhoumeh** is the Head of Relevance  at META AI. A seasoned product and business executive, Eman has held a variety of leadership roles at technology companies prior to her current role at Meta. Starting her career at Microsoft, Eman spent time working on technology and business in the Office product division. Itching to incubate and grow a complete business unit, Eman took on the role of heading the world wide insuretech product for Expedia, Inc growing it over 10x in revenue by guiding the transformation of business model, technology and product. From there Eman moved to Lyft and was in the thick of covid response as head of safety and customer care. Having already experienced the transformative power of AI in her previous roles, Eman joined Meta’s AI division leading content and user understanding applying state of the art AI to help people discover their interest and connect with each other. Eman grew up in Amman, Jordan and obtained dual degrees in Computer Science and Graphic Design from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

**Dr. Taniya Mishra** has more than two dozen patents and has co-authored more than 30 technical publications related to speech synthesis, speech recognition, spoken language understanding, data synthesis, and affective computing. In 2016, She developed and grew Affectiva's highly competitive EMPath Internship Program, which is open to students anywhere between high school and graduate school. In 2019 we had over 500 applicants for 12 spots. Affectiva was later **acquired for $73.5M**. At AT&T Labs, in 2010 and 2011, she managed research intern cohorts comprising more than 50 participants each year, and** won a lab-wide Vice President’s Award.** Her work on affective computing was written about in The Atlantic in 2018 and featured on NBC News in 2019. She is on the board of Resolution Kindness, a non-profit aimed at improving civility in cultural conversations through tangible expressions of kindness.

**Salwa Nur Muhammad** is the Founder and CEO of FourthBrain, an AI/ML education startup backed by Andrew Ng's (founder of Coursera) AI Fund. FourthBrain's mission is to bring more people into AI and Machine Learning fields by training students through a hybrid online program that combines live cohort sessions led by an instructor with online content. The program also focuses heavily on group projects sponsored by companies like Samsung, Spotify, Cisco, etc. to build skills in communication, collaboration and ethics in AI that help students to level up in their career.  Salwa's career in education spans highered institutions, career counseling, international education and edtech startups. Prior to founding FourthBrain, she was an early executive at Udacity and Trilogy Education Services (acquired by 2U for $750M) leading revenue generating teams. At Udacity, Salwa scaled student services and hired/trained teams across six international offices including launching the first one in Egypt. She has a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College and a master's degree in Technology and Education from Harvard University.
