George Yerousis

George Yerousis is the Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit at Birzeit University. George comes from a chemical and environmental engineering background and has, for more than 10 years, been working in mentoring and supporting university students and entrepreneurs to collaboratively innovate: encouraging them spot and uncover opportunities that others do not see, iterate ideas forward turning them into long-lasting impact, understand how to network minds in non-traditional ways – using divergent thinking - in order to solve problems that are intricate and complex. George is leading the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit that was launched in Birzeit University in 2017, which is a bold new vision that fosters an active campus of innovators (students, faculty, and staff) – one that this competitive in promoting social entrepreneurship and social innovation, and at the same time, a campus that provides a rich and engaging students’ experience through skills enhancement and meaningful, structured, and reciprocal university-community engagements. As an Active Citizens facilitator, George delivers training to youngsters to that they are empowered to engage effectively with others in the sustainable development of their communities.
